The security company Securitas Direct has invested a total of 297 million euros in the last five years in the research and development of its own technology, of which, 71 million correspond to the year 2022.
This investment is part of Securitas Direct's commitment to innovation and sustainability throughout its 30 years of existence, in which "it has paved the way for the category and marked the future of the alarm sector, with its own developments. that have become standard for the industry," according to the company.
In addition to its own investment, in 2022 the security company received an endowment of 650,000 euros from the Next Generation EU funds that were allocated to projects based on the application of artificial intelligence to alarm devices.
The company has highlighted that thanks to this investment it has managed to "bring artificial intelligence to homes and use technology such as Big Data, the Internet of Things and predictive models to its devices."
Furthermore, as part of its commitment to technology, the company has also created its 'Security Experience Center', a space that houses the latest alarm devices, such as the latest version of its ZeroVision system or the senior protection clock, and which It also has an exhibition of all the alarm systems that Securitas Direct has launched in the last 30 years in Spain.
Over the past six years, Securitas Direct has experienced "exponential growth", going from one million customers in 2018 to more than two million customers in 2023, which, according to company data, is equivalent to more than six million of protected people.
As for workers, they have gone from around 4,500 employees in 2018 to more than 10,000 currently.
On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, Securitas Direct has produced the documentary series 'Protectores', which offers a detailed view of the evolution of private security in Spain throughout these three decades of the company's existence.
The documentary, divided into five chapters, includes real cases of clients who have experienced situations of vulnerability, intrusion and emergencies, in addition to the testimony of the head of the Central Private Security Unit (UCSP), Manuel Yanguas; Securitas Direct leadership expert, Xavier Marcet; the professor of Innovation and Technology at IE Business School, Enrique Dans; and the president of the Borredá Foundation, Ana Borredá.
