Civil servants represented by the Syndicat de la fonction publique et parapublique du Québec (SFPQ) endorsed Friday at 77% an agreement in principle with Quebec, guaranteeing them a salary increase of 6 to 10%.

The increase may vary depending on the type of job, it is specified in the press release of the Syndicat de la fonction publique et parapublique du Québec.

Other benefits and improvements to working conditions and pay were negotiated, including the granting of “substantial bonuses” and “monetary and normative gains”.

“After several days of strike action and numerous pressure tactics, we finally got the Legault government to recognize the contribution of public service personnel in maintaining Quebec public services. These negotiations will have enabled us to make concrete progress in order to deal with the problems of attraction and retention raised by our members, and this, without taking a step back,” said the general president of the SFPQ, Christian Daigle.

A proportion of 69% of the 26,000 members of the SFPQ took part in the vote.
