Sánchez affirms that the "income statement" of electricity companies and banks justifies the "appropriateness" of the tax increase

MADRID, 27 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has indicated this Thursday that the "income statement" of the financial entities and also of the energy entities that are being published these days justify the "suitability" of approving new taxes for these companies.

Sánchez, on an official visit to South Africa, has also defended the solidarity tax on large fortunes to, with all of them, maintain social protection and welfare.

"That those who contribute the most are the ones who have the most. In this case, the large electricity companies, the large financial entities, as we saw yesterday in their income statement," he reiterated.

Just yesterday Iberdrola announced its results until September, when it earned 3,104 million euros, 29% more than a year earlier, as did Banco Santander, which improved its profit by 25% in this same period, up to 7,316 million. Along the same lines, Repsol has announced this Thursday that its result has improved by 66%, to 3,222 million euros.
