MADRID, July 18 (EUROPA PRESS) - Social Security gained an average of 17,612 foreign affiliates in June, closing the sixth month of the year with 2,698,604 immigrant workers registered in the system.

With the advance of June, the affiliation of foreigners chains five consecutive months of increases after having gained in February, March, April and May 30,684, 59,645, 80,795 and 74,310, contributors in average values, respectively.

Of the total number of contributing foreigners at the end of June, 55.6% were men and 44.4% women, as reported on Monday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations.

After discounting seasonality and the calendar effect, Social Security registered 2,607,613 foreign affiliates in June, which is 12,830 more affiliates than a month earlier.

In seasonally adjusted terms, the affiliation of foreigners to Social Security rose in June by 12,830 contributors, up to a total of 2,607,613 employed.

Since February 2020, before the impact of the pandemic, the system has recorded an increase of more than 418,000 workers from other countries.

As a whole, foreign workers represented 12.6% of the total number of people affiliated to Social Security at the end of June in seasonally adjusted values.

Of the total foreign affiliates at the end of the sixth month of the year, 895,142 came from EU countries (33.2%) and 1,803,462 from third countries (66.8%). The most numerous foreign employed groups are workers from Romania (349,913), Morocco (328,359), Italy (180,558), Colombia (162,298) and Venezuela (141,536).

In addition, the system has 65,724 affiliates from Ukraine, 18,465 more than in January 2022 (39.1%), before the start of the war waged in the country by Russia.

The majority of workers from Ukraine who work in Spain, around 87.2%, are salaried and 12% are self-employed.

In the last year, the average affiliation of foreign workers has increased by 235,714 employed persons, which in relative terms implies a rise of 9.6%.

FOREIGNERS WORKING IN HOSPITALITY RISE BY 4.9%

By regimes, the majority of foreigners fit into the General Regime, which closed June with 2,268,138 foreign affiliates, 84% of the total.

For its part, the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers (RETA) ended June with 424,661 foreign contributors. Of them, 14.8% are of Chinese nationality, followed by Romanians (11%) and Italians (9%).

Within the General Regime, the sectors that gained the most foreign contributors in June, in relative values, were the hospitality industry (4.9%) and administrative activities and water supply activities (3.7%).

The Special Agrarian System (which falls under the General Regime) lost 9.38% of foreigners compared to the previous month, while the Home registered almost 0.12% fewer foreign contributors than in May.

By autonomous communities, the average affiliation of foreigners rose in June in 15 of them and fell in Andalucía (-25,678 contributors) and La Rioja (-851). The greatest monthly increases, in absolute terms, occurred in Catalonia (14,271 contributors), the Balearic Islands (7,766) and Madrid (6,423).
