The departure of Pierre Bruneau after 46 years of service led to major changes in TVA newscasts. Sophie Thibault, who has been the head of TVA 22h for 20 years, will be at the helm of TVA 5 and 6 p.m. from the start of the school year, and Pierre-Olivier Zappa will replace her at the end of the evening.

Sophie Thibault will present the news from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, stepping into the shoes of her colleague Pierre Bruneau, who will be retiring on June 16 at the end of his very last bulletin. Having joined TVA in 1976, Mr. Bruneau will however be back for the Quebec elections this fall, in particular to host the “Face-à-Face 2022”.

A journalist at TVA for 34 years, Sophie Thibault became on May 27, 2002 the very first woman in North America to hold the position of anchor of a news bulletin, that of 10 p.m. It is a mandate of trust and continuity for her to present TVA 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

On Fridays, at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., Julie Marcoux will take over from Sophie Thibault.

As for Pierre-Olivier Zappa, who has been working at TVA for years, this is certainly a big promotion that will lead him to pilot the 10 p.m. bulletin from Monday to Thursday. Currently, he hosts the daily "A vos affaires", at LCN, in addition to collaborating on all the television news of the channel thanks to several of his expertise, including the economy.

As for Michel Jean, who is already at the controls of the TVA network noon, the work will continue every day, for two hours, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
