After a year and a half of negotiations without results, the workers of the organization SOS violence conjugale will hold a day of strike on Saturday to denounce the “manifest bad faith of the management of the employer”.

The organization's main demands relate, among other things, to salaries, equal treatment between permanent and substitute workers, improved management of call-back lists, increased insurance benefits, maintenance of acquired skills, particularly with regard to vacation, and the difficulty of taking the leave provided for in the collective agreement.

“The negotiations have officially started since November 2020 and we have been almost treading water since then, after 21 meetings. The Union even had to request conciliation, in February 2021, due to the employer's persistent refusal to schedule dates for negotiation meetings, "said Laurent Thivierge, secretary general of the Federation of Trade Unions in a press release. collective action (FSAC-CSQ), which represents about fifteen workers working for the organization.

On the occasion of this strike day, the union will hold a barbecue in solidarity with the workers of SOS violence conjugale, starting at 1 p.m., at Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier Park in Montreal. There will be hot dogs and demands on the menu. The public is invited to come and meet the workers on strike to express their support.
