Spain will ask passengers from China for a negative Covid test or the complete vaccination schedule

MADRID, 30 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, has announced this Friday, given the high transmission of the coronavirus in China, that passengers from the Asian country will be asked for a negative Covid-19 test or, failing that, the complete guideline of vaccination.

This announcement comes after on Thursday, following an urgently called meeting of the European Union's Health Security Committee (HSC), EU member states agreed to maintain "active surveillance" in the face of the apparent explosion of coronavirus infections in China, in and from which came the commitment to continue in contact to examine possible joint initiatives, such as those already publicly demanded by Italy.

Likewise, hours later, Health recommended to Spanish travelers whose destination or origin is China that they have a complete vaccination schedule and that they maintain precautionary measures, and insisted on the importance of vaccinating with the second booster dose with those adapted to variants, especially the most vulnerable people.

The Community of Madrid asked the Ministry yesterday to intensify control of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, as well as other control measures. In fact, the president of the region, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, ordered the preventive activation of the anti-Covid protocol in nursing homes and reinforcement of the Isabel Zendal hospital, given the news coming from China.
