Sporting Kansas City has seen better days before. The Missouri team, bottom of the Major League Soccer (MLS) Western Conference, lost again, this time by a score of 2 to 1 against the New England Revolution, Sunday at Sporting Park.

Sporting KC, who have tasted victory just three times in 16 games this season, came close to adding a point to their record. The "Revs", however, took advantage of a generous rebound allocated by goalkeeper Tim Melia in the 87th minute. The latter almost prevented Ghanaian international Emmanuel Boateng from pocketing his second goal of the season on this action, but he was only able to partially stop his return.

Midfielder Oriol Rosell put the crowd favorites in hot water in the 48th minute when he received a red card. Teammate Johnny Russell shrugged it off, however, scoring straight from a free kick four minutes later.

After missing several games due to a leg injury and suffering a dry spell on his return to action, the explosive Argentine striker Gustavo Bou is back in action for the Revolution. He took advantage of a superb stint from young teammate Dylan Borrero, who was getting his first start with the club, to thread the needle in a second game in a row.

Recall that Bou was named to the MLS all-star team at the end of last season.

By virtue of that win, the “Revs” climbed to eighth in the Eastern Conference, just shy of a playoff berth. However, they are only four points behind CF Montreal and third in the Association.
