The stampede that killed about 150 people Saturday night during a Halloween party in Seoul is "a tragedy and a disaster that should not have happened," South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said on Sunday.

“In central Seoul has occurred a tragedy and a disaster that should not have happened,” Yoon said in a televised address to the nation. The government “will rigorously investigate the cause” of the tragedy “to ensure that such an accident does not happen again”, he promised.
