The German unions Ver.di and EGV have called new strikes in air and rail transport in Germany for this Thursday and this Friday, as reported in their respective statements.

The strikes will be extended at the German airports of Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Cologne/Bonn. In connection with the strike, longer waiting times and even flight cancellations are expected during these two days.

Ver.di has stated that talks with the Federal Association of Aviation Safety Companies (BDLS) with the aim of finding a solution to the conflict together "have not yet borne fruit."

In addition, long-distance traffic for the state-owned company Deutsche Bahn in particular is likely to be largely paralyzed on Friday because trains cannot start in the morning.

For its part, the EVG railway union demands a salary increase of 650 euros for all as a social component, alternatively 12% more, with a duration of twelve months. Additionally, the goal is to eliminate "wage inequities" such as when regionally different wages are paid for the same jobs.

However, EVG will continue its negotiations with the railway company Transdev and next week the talks with Deutsche Bahn will also continue.

Both unions already called a large-scale strike in Germany in air and rail transport on March 27, causing serious delays and even the paralysis of transport services throughout Germany.
