Telefónica will receive 1,316 million after imposing itself on the Treasury in court

MADRID, 25 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Telefónica will receive 1,361 million (adding interest), after being notified this Tuesday of an agreement to execute the Supreme Court ruling on the liquidation of Corporation Tax in the 2008 and 2011 financial years.

In this way, the operator will receive 790 million euros for the taxes paid during those years and another 526 million euros for default interest, according to the notification sent to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

The ruling of the Supreme Court confirmed the criteria for the use of negative tax bases and deductions maintained by Telefónica in that period of four years.

The lawsuit originates from a discrepancy over the deduction of a tax credit generated by the operator of the handicap that led to the purchase of the Lycos search engine in 2000. The case has gone through several instances until finally coming to an end with this execution agreement .
