Tesla cuts its profits by 44% in the third quarter

Tesla has earned 44% less in the third quarter, thus registering an attributable net profit in the period of 1,853 million dollars (1,764 million euros), which represents a decrease of 44% compared to the same months in 2022.

Regarding the operating margin in the period, it was 7.6%, almost ten points less than a year before (17.2%). In addition, adjusted gross operating profit (EBITDA) fell 24% in the third quarter of the year, to 3,758 million dollars (3,580 million euros), with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 16.1%.

Of course, the automotive company's operations have benefited in the third quarter of this year from the growth in its sales volume worldwide, which increased 27% in the period, up to 435,059 units.

In relation to the increase in sales volume, this quarter they stood at 23,350 million dollars (22,240 million euros), which translates into an increase of 9% compared to the figure recorded a year earlier.

Of that amount, 1,559 million dollars (1,485 million euros) correspond to income linked to energy generation and storage, 40% more.

Looking to the long term, Tesla has confirmed that it will continue to work on innovation and reduce production and operational costs while expecting an improvement in revenue linked to AI or software.

Likewise, Elon Musk's company is planning to increase production as quickly as possible in line with the 50% CAGR target and, for this year, Tesla expects to stay ahead of the 50% CAGR in the long term with around of 1.8 million vehicles this year.

Among other things, the arrival of the Cybertruck, scheduled for the end of this year, is expected to boost the business of the company, which is working on the launch of a next-generation platform.
