The six largest Spanish banking entities together obtained a net profit of 16,014 million euros in the first nine months of the year, which represents an increase of 32% more compared to the same period of 2021, excluding extraordinary items that were recorded in the year past, such as the impact of the merger between CaixaBank and Bankia.

Banco Santander obtained an attributable profit of 7,316 million euros in the first nine months of 2022, which represents 25% more in current euros compared to the same period of the previous year. Excluding an extraordinary charge of €530 million in the same period of 2021, ordinary profit grew by 15% in current euros.

The BBVA group recorded an attributable profit of 4,842 million euros between January and September of this year, which represents an increase of 47% compared to the same period of the previous year (46.2% at current exchange rates). Excluding non-recurring impacts, profit was 5,044 million euros, 37.1% more.

It should be noted that both Santander and BBVA generate a significant part of their income statement with their international activity.

In Spain, Santander's ordinary profit amounted to 1,104 million euros in the first nine months of the year, which represents an increase of 99%, motivated by a reduction in loan-loss provisions (-27%) and costs ( -two%).

For its part, BBVA Spain generated a recurring result of 1,514 million euros between January and September (27.1% year-on-year), thanks to the evolution of the interest margin and net commissions, as well as the ROF, and lower operating expenses. exploitation and provisions.

On its side, CaixaBank registered a net attributable profit of 2,457 million euros until September, 17.7% more than the same period of the previous year based on homogeneous perimeters.

The accounting result of this bank increased by 21.5% without including the extraordinary effects of the merger; If the impacts of the integration are taken into account, it falls by 48.8%, since the profit until September 2021 was 4,801 million due to the positive contribution for accounting purposes of 4,300 million from the 'badwill' and other associated extraordinary results.

Banco Sabadell obtained a net profit of 709 million from January to September, which is nearly double the 370 million for the same period of the previous year. Excluding TSB, net attributable profit stood at 616 million euros in these nine months, more than double that of 2021, when this figure stood at 288 million euros.

Bankinter Group recorded a net profit of 430.1 million euros during the first nine months of this year, which represents 21.2% more than in the same period last year.

Finally, Unicaja Banco registered a net profit of 260 million euros during the first nine months of this year, which represents an increase of 67.1% compared to the same period of the previous year, as reported by the entity on Thursday.
