The Government adds six new construction materials in the price review but leaves out energy

MADRID, 10 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Ministry of Finance and Public Administration has approved a Ministerial Order to include another six new construction materials in the price revision decree in public works contracts, although it still does not include energy, one of the main demands of the sector.

Specifically, the Order published today in the Official State Gazette (BOE) includes cement, ceramic materials, wood, plastics, chemical products and glass, thus joining the elements that were already including: iron and steel materials, bituminous materials, aluminum and copper.

The royal decree-law approved by the Government at the beginning of the year recognizes the possibility for the contractor of an exceptional review of the prices of the works contracts when the increase in the cost of the materials used has had a direct and relevant impact on the economy of the contract .

The decree itself empowered the Ministry of Finance and Public Function to expand the list of materials established, adding those that have experienced a significant increase and have an impact on the economy of works contracts.

After analyzing the evolution until August 2022 of the prices of materials with a significant participation in works contracts, the Government has decided to include these six materials, whose price growth had not been significant until now.
