The Government extends the aid granted from the Perte VEC to 880 million and will call another in 2023

MADRID/VIGO, 21 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, has announced that the Government has increased the public aid to be distributed to 880 million euros within the framework of the Strategic Project for the Recovery and Economic Transformation of the Electric and Connected Vehicle (Perte VEC) , which means increasing the funds awarded in the provisional resolution by almost 300 million euros.

Within the framework of the meeting of the Perte Alliance for the Naval Industry in Vigo, Maroto pointed out that the definitive resolution of the Perte VEC aid will be announced imminently, although he announced that the distribution has been increased to 880 million, which represents 29.5% of the program budget, which amounts to 2,975 million euros and which in the provisional publication accounted for about 20%.

Maroto highlighted that this new mobilization proposal of 880 million is "unique" because "never before" had so much been invested in the sector.

Regarding the battery factory for electric cars that the Volkswagen group intends to promote in Sagunto (Valencia), the minister said that right now "all the projects have guarantees so that they can be developed according to the needs of the companies."

NEW PERTE VEC IN 2023

In addition, the head of the Industry, Commerce and Tourism portfolio advanced that a second call for the Perte VEC will be launched in the first quarter of next year, since the initially planned funds will not be exhausted in the first edition.

Precisely, he explained that this second line will have the funds that have not been used in the first call and, "if necessary", the available resources could be expanded.

In this sense, he indicated that this initiative was "well received" by companies such as Stellantis, since the automobile group intended to access funds to finance certain projects, but due to a "time problem" in the maturation of the same, some of them did not they fit into the first Perte.

About this company, Maroto also confirmed that one of the projects being evaluated for approval, included within the 880 million, is the 'Aires' initiative, which would involve the implementation of a battery workshop in Vigo, the reuse of water industry or the reduction of energy consumption.

As he stressed, this project is on the table in which 15 million euros will be invested, most of them in the Vigo factory and others in the Madrid plant, and which will be approved "in the next few hours".
