The Government studies creating scholarships of 7,000 euros per year for opponents of the Treasury

MADRID, 27 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government is studying the possibility of creating scholarships of about 7,000 euros per year for opponents of positions in the Treasury, mainly inspectors, but also in customs or cadastres, as revealed this Monday in Congress by the Secretary of State for the Ministry, Jesús Gascón.

During his appearance at the Finance and Public Function Commission, Gascón pointed out that work is already underway on a pilot program of 30 scholarships, which would amount to a total of around 210,000 euros.

As he explained, the program would be applicable to all opponents in the field of Public Finance, such as customs employees, cadastres, architects or engineers. However, sources from the Treasury have confirmed to Europa Press that the inspectors would stand out, given the greater number of places.

The main objective of this program would be to "strengthen the pool of opponents", in order to ensure that those people who have difficulties preparing for the oppositions find financial help in their preparation.

The Secretary of State for the Treasury has also framed this new program in the latest offer of public employment approved by the Government, with the aim of facing the wave of retirements that the Tax Administration will be particularly affected by.

According to Finance Technicians, between 2021 and 2023, 2,017 people will retire, a situation that will worsen in the next two legislatures in which another 5,797 and 5,726 employees will retire, respectively. In other words, by 2031, 54.2% of the current Tax Administration staff will have retired.
