The heart of La Gomera

The island of La Gomera is a true hiking paradise. It is less than an hour by ferry from Tenerife which, however, seems much busier. Setting foot in the capital San Sebastian is both destabilizing and refreshing. It really does feel like time flies at a very different speed. Also, dizzying car driving is not easy. In addition, I arrive at night in Hermigua. Chance is good, because the hamlet of Agulo is located less than twelve minutes from my hotel.

Perched in the mountains and nicknamed the heart of La Gomera, this village presents a splendid view of the Teide cone on the island of Tenerife. With its small winding streets and terraced crops overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, photography enthusiasts will be dazzled by the perspectives of this island. Invaded by a great excitement, I hasten to get out of bed an hour before sunrise. Without difficulty, I managed to find a belvedere that offered me the desired view. The golden dawn enhances the contrast of the warm lights that illuminate the colorful streets of this small village of around 1,000 inhabitants. Very satisfied with my photos taken, I enjoy an espresso coffee on the main street, which really gives me the feeling that I started the day on the right foot!
