The industry accelerates the growth of its sales to 12.8% in January and adds 23 months of increases

MADRID, 23 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The turnover of the industry increased by 12.8% last January compared to the same month in 2022, mainly due to the boost in sales from the energy sector, which increased by 24.4%, according to data released this Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

With the year-on-year increase in January, 3.2 points higher than that registered in December 2022, industry turnover now adds up to 23 consecutive months of rises after having previously chained a year of negative year-on-year rates due to the Covid crisis.

In monthly terms (January 2023 over December 2022) and in seasonal and calendar adjusted data, the industry cut its sales by 0.9%, in contrast to the monthly increases of 2.2% and 0.4% registered in November and December 2022, respectively.
