The 'leasing' market moved 1,555 million euros until February, 50.9% more

Spanish companies invested 1,555.3 million euros through leasing to finance movable and real estate assets in the first two months of the year, which represents an increase of 50.9% compared to the same period in 2022, according to the latest data published. by the Spanish Association of Leasing and Renting (AELR).

New investment through 'leasing' on real estate amounted to 45.5 million euros up to February, 39.5% less, while that of personal property grew by 58%, to a total of 1,509.7 million euros.

By region, in Madrid leasing contracts worth 339.5 million euros were signed, 125.6% more than in the first two months of 2022, while in Catalonia, the turnover totaled 173.2 million euros, with a decrease of 8.6%.

The duration of the contracts in the first two months of the year was 56.3 months, in line with the previous year. Regarding the non-performing loan ratio, it stood at 3.5%, compared to 3.8% in the January-February 2022 period.

"The leasing market continues to grow and we hope that this trend can be confirmed as the months go by. Leasing is a great instrument for investment management, especially in times of turbulence like the one we are experiencing", highlighted the president of AELR, José Coronel de Palma and Martínez-Agulló.

Only in the month of February, the new investment in 'leasing' amounted to 567.4 million euros, 2.2% less than in the same month of 2022.

Movable property leasing increased by 3.7% year-on-year in February, to 547.2 million euros, while real estate leasing fell by 62.1%, to a total of 20.1 million.
