A large majority of Quebecers with type 2 diabetes (85%) say they feel isolated because of the disease, according to a Léger survey released Monday.

The survey results also show that nearly half of Quebecers who suffer from this type of diabetes avoid talking about it to others.

Overall, almost a third of respondents agree that the disease has a negative effect on their mental well-being.

A total of 58% of them say they associate type 2 diabetes with at least one negative emotion, such as frustration, stress or anxiety.

They must always have in mind the management of their disease, according to them.

Nationally, the majority of Canadians with this disease aspire to better manage it.
