The Miami Marlins took advantage of a long ball from Bryan De La Cruz to win 3-2 in 10 innings against the Nationals on Monday afternoon in Washington.

The Florida formation thus swept the series of four duels opposing them to the club of the American capital. The latter, for his part, suffered the defeat in a fifth consecutive match.

At the start of the extra inning, Cruz dispatched Gunner Tanner Rainey's second shot (1-3) behind the fence. His home run gave the Marlins a two-run lead, as Miguel Rojas was already on the trails.

Back at bat for a final turn at bat, the Nationals saw their hopes severely compromised when their rivals double-played following a weak ground ball from Luis Garcia. On this sequence, Maikel Franco crossed the plate to reduce the gap to a single point.

The win went to Jimmy Yacabonis (1-1), while reliever Dylan Floro earned his second save of the season.
