The ferry facilities were hard hit by the winter storm that hit several regions of Quebec on Friday, said the Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ).

“The STQ will have to carry out a complete inspection of all the infrastructures in place and plan the required repairs in addition to a major cleaning”, it was specified on Saturday by press release.

All crossings heading to or departing from Godbout will therefore be redirected to Baie-Comeau according to the posted schedule.

"The STQ would like to reassure customers who already have a reservation that they will be contacted by the reservations department of the Matane ferry to modify their reservation accordingly," he said.

The equipment must be tested in Baie-Comeau, in particular any impact on the access ramps.

"For the moment, the schedule remains unchanged for the next crossings scheduled for Monday, December 26, but the STQ will confirm as soon as possible to its customers, through its alert system, that the service will indeed take place," said mentioned the STQ.

No damage was observed on the Matane side, but the navigation conditions remain difficult.
