The price of products in Spanish 'online' supermarkets increased on average by 11.6% in August 2023, compared to the same period a year earlier, when it closed with a rise of 9.4%, according to the information sent by soysuper.com.

By autonomous community, those that recorded the largest increases above 12% at the end of August were Murcia (16.9%), La Rioja (15.7%), the Balearic Islands (13.4%) and Extremadura (12.8%). %). On the other hand, those that increased their prices the least were Asturias (9.6%), the Basque Country (10%) and Aragón (10.3%).

By product categories, all the main ones increased their prices, specifically, those that registered the largest increases at the end of August were preserves, soups, oils and condiments (17.2%) and cereals and cookies (16.2%).

In this sense, the price of olive oil increased by 45% in August compared to the same period of the previous year, as detailed by soysuper.com, which also states that the year-on-year increase in January 2023 was 20%.
