The 'private equity' sector will exceed 10,000 million this year, above the record of 8,890 million in 2019, having registered only in the third quarter around 2,100 million euros, according to estimates by the publication Capital

The report highlights that, despite the war in Ukraine, the sector maintains "great dynamism" and "high" levels of activity thanks to the drive of the 'middle market' and the commitment of international funds to large Spanish assets.

In the first months of the year, the figure for capital invested was 7,740 million in the private equity sector in Spain, which is practically equal to the investment figure registered in the entire year 2021.

Most of the operations this summer have been led by national and international funds from the 'middle market', such as the purchase of ITP Aero by Bain Capital and a Spanish consortium for an amount of 1,700 million, which for Capital

The publication foresees that other processes will be completed before the end of the year and will allow adding, at least, 2,250 million euros more of own capital invested by the funds. Among the operations to be closed, highlights include the acquisition of the Valencian Infertility Institute (IVI) by KKR, valued at 3,000 million, or the purchase of the chocolate company Natra by the CapVest fund, for another 500 million.

By type of operation, the 'buyout' continues to gain ground, in addition to the activity in 'build up' and the increase in the number of divestments.
