The Rimouski reserve, an interesting destination

LAKE RIMOUSKI | If you want to experience a very interesting stay for fishing, in a group or with your family, you should put on your agenda a stay in the Rimouski wildlife reserve, located in the Bas-Saint-Laurent.

"I believe that we are able to welcome fishing enthusiasts and those who decide to live their stay with their family in a great way," explains the director of the reserve, Michel Fournier. In the center of the reserve, in the Lac Rimouski sector where we are, we have created an offer that will delight anglers and small families. »

First of all, at Lac Rimouski, there are about ten rather unique cabins, which offer maximum comfort.

“Really, people are going to feel at home since we are lucky to have electricity, allowing us to offer even more services in the chalets. The amenities found inside ensure a very comfortable stay for people who visit us. People will feel at home. »

True to form, Michel Fournier does almost nothing. I confirm that indeed, with the services and comfort available to us, we never have the impression of being 40 km away in the forest. Having lived in many cabins since the start of the season, those at Lac Rimouski are truly in a class of their own.

FISHING AND ACTIVITIES

For fishing, no problem. A fishing plan is attached to the sector and is established in advance. In each of the chalets, you will find the fishing calendar. No raffle needed. We went fishing at Lac Blanc where in an hour we caught 12 good sized trout.

Success came trolling with a red center Cami in one case and an orange and silver Lake Clear for the other angler.

For Michel Fournier, it is important that families who frequent the Lac Rimouski sector can find what they are looking for with the activities offered.

“We have set up activities for the family, young and old, explains the director. We have built a wharf to introduce young people to fishing, as part of the Pêche en herbe program, in conjunction with the Fondation de la faune. There is a monitor on site. Also, we have on site kayaks, paddle boards, bikes for children and electric bikes for adults. Very close to the Lac Rimouski site, we have a trail called the Sentier du Sommet Bernard Voyer, the native explorer of Rimouski. It is 5 km long and leads people to an observation site. One of the highest peaks we have in the reserve. »

It should also be mentioned that a game module for young people is also available on site as well as a pontoon available for rent, to navigate on Lake Rimouski.

FOR CAMPER

Also on the Lac Rimouski site, there is a section reserved for campers, which has ten sites.

“We have grounds that can accommodate all kinds of equipment. We have sites with three services for caravans and motorhomes and sites with two services, electricity and water. Also, we have set up four sites for rustic camping, for people who want to live in a tent. We have placed platforms on the sites to make it easier for people to set up, saving them from having to do all kinds of maneuvers to level the tent and such. Everything has been thought out to make life easier for people. »

If the adventure tempts you, the director had these tips for you.

“I would tell people to get there early because we have a high occupancy rate. Above all, do not wait until the last minute thinking that there will be room. Ideally, it is to do it as early as possible in winter or very early in spring. Many people who come to us book when they go out for the following season. I would add that as reservations are advanced, someone who wants to come in 2023 can book now. »

To find out more about availability and costs, you can consult the sepaq.com website under the Rimouski Reserve tab. You can also call 418-735-2226.

A stay there will allow you to discover the vision of Michel Fournier, who has always achieved great things wherever he has been. Unfortunately for the midfielder, he decided to retire this fall. Hunters and anglers will lose a major ally in the Sépaq network.
