"Despite a more intense resumption of negotiations this week, the SFPQ has notified the employer that it will exercise these additional strike days if the discussions in progress at the bargaining table lead to an impasse," the union said in a press release. .

A total of 40,000 union members will be affected by the strike, ie 26,000 office workers and technicians, 4,000 workers and 10,000 workers from the parapublic sector.

The collective agreement, which expired on April 1, 2020, is the subject of litigation between the government and the SFPQ.

"For more than two years, we have been proposing solutions to stem the problems of labor shortages that are undermining public services," explained the general president of the SFPQ, Christian Daigle.

The union is demanding better salary conditions, so that they take into account the state of the labor market and inflation.

The union members had already held a few days of strikes in April and March to make their demands heard.
