The United Kingdom's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) fell 0.5% in July compared to the previous month, weighed down by its three main economic sectors, especially services, according to estimates published this Wednesday by the British Office for National Statistics (ONS). ).

The monthly decline in the United Kingdom's GDP in July contrasts with the 0.5% growth recorded by Europe's second largest economy last June.

The fall in the United Kingdom's GDP in July was mainly a consequence of the 0.5% decrease in activity in the services sector. According to the ONS, the production of consumer-oriented services did not grow in the seventh month of the year, after having increased 0.5% the previous month.

At the same time, production contracted by 0.7% in July, compared to the 1.8% growth experienced the previous month, while the construction sector reduced its activity by 0.5%, in contrast to the advance monthly 1.6% in June.

However, in the May-July period, the British economy grew by 0.2% thanks to the boost in its main sectors of activity, according to data published by the ONS.
