A person lost his life in a fire that occurred Saturday morning in Trois-Rivières.

It was around 11:30 a.m. on New Year's Eve that the flames started in a building on Brunelle Street in the Cap-de-la-Madeleine sector.

The investigation has been transferred to the police. It is still unclear whether the fire is of criminal origin, said Luc Mongrain, spokesperson for the Trois-Rivières police.
