TROY — A 29-year-old man is facing drug charges after police said he fled a traffic stop on foot and allegedly attempted to destroy evidence of drugs on his person.
State Police they stopped a car being driven by Hassan Richardson of Troy for a turn signal violation Saturday morning on Hoosick Street. Police said they did a brief interview with Richardson before he fled the car, running away. State Police said Troy police were also at the traffic stop.
Officers said Richardson was observed destroying evidence he had before he was taken into custody. Police said he was found with cocaine, marijuana and hydrocodone. Richardson was charged with third and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies, as well as resisting arrest, tampering with physical evidence and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, which are misdemeanors. He also faces a marijuana charge, which is a violation.
Richardson was sent to the Rensselaer County Jail with no bail. A passenger in the vehicle, Morgan Losie, 24, of Troy was issued a ticket after allowing Richardson, who was unlicensed, to drive Losie's car.
