UBS reduces profit by 24% in the third quarter

The Swiss bank UBS obtained an attributed net profit of 1,733 million dollars (1,759 million euros) in the third quarter of 2022, which represents a 24% drop compared to the result recorded in the same period of 2021, as reported by the entity .

UBS's turnover between July and September reached 8,236 million dollars (8,358 million euros), 9.6% less than a year earlier.

Thus, in the first nine months of the year, the Swiss bank posted an attributable net profit of 5,977 million dollars (6,065 million euros), 2.2% below the result for the same period in 2021.

On its side, UBS revenues up to September totaled 26,534 million dollars (26,926 million euros), 0.6% less than a year earlier.

The entity has adjusted its 2022 ordinary dividend forecast upwards from $0.51 to $0.55 per share, which represents an increase of 10% compared to the previous year. Likewise, it foresees that the repurchases of shares will be around 5,500 million dollars (5,581 million euros) in the whole of 2022.

On the other hand, UBS specified that its direct exposure to country risk to Russia decreased to 200 million dollars (203 million euros) as of September 30, 2022, compared to 600 million dollars (609 million euros) at 31 December 2021, while the entity did not have significant direct exposures to the country risk of Ukraine or Belarus.
