UFC president slaps his wife during argument

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White said he was 'embarrassed' by his actions during an altercation he had with his wife on New Year's Eve when they were in Mexico.

A video of the event has been published and it is possible to see the couple bickering. At one point, Anne White slaps her husband in the face and he immediately responds by slapping her back.

“There is never an excuse for a man hitting a woman,” Dana White told the TMZ website. My wife and I have been married for almost 30 years. We have known each other since we were 12 years old. We have been through many hardships together and we have three children. This is a horrible situation.”

"I'm embarrassed, but this is a situation where I worry more about our children," he continued. [...] Since the video surfaced, we've shown it to the kids and are focusing on our family right now. People are going to have opinions about it, and most people's opinions would be right, especially in my case. You must never lay your hands on a woman.”

Dana White has said a few times that this is the first time he and his wife have physically attacked each other.

"There was definitely a lot of alcohol involved, but that's no excuse," he said. I literally make no apologies for this thing. This had never happened before.”

Anne White also discussed the event, specifying that the gesture of her husband was not “in his nature”.

"Nothing like this has ever happened before," she said. Unfortunately, we both drank too much on New Year's Eve and things got out of hand on both sides. We talked about it as a family and we apologized.
