Vidrala starts up its largest glass furnace in the Iberian Peninsula with an investment of 100 million

MADRID, 17 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Grupo Vidrala, a Spanish company dedicated to the manufacture of glass containers, has announced the renovation and start-up of one of its furnaces at the Gallo Vidrio plant, in the Portuguese town of Marinha Grande, after an investment of close to 100 million euros, as reported in a statement.

The furnace at the Gallo Vidrio plant is highly electrified and will increase the capacity of the Vidrala factory by more than 50%, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions and guaranteeing long-term supply.

The new oven will also have industrial digitization, energy efficiency and productivity technologies, and flexible machines will be used in the new production lines that will make it possible to manufacture containers of different sizes and shapes. Likewise, the new facilities have been designed to offer greater ergonomics and well-being in the workplace.

This investment is part of a multi-year strategic industrial development plan that Vidrala has established for Portugal. With this, the group intends to expand the logistics infrastructure by building advanced technology warehouses, strengthening the transport fleet and investing in its own renewable electricity generation facilities.
