The 27 member countries of the European Union approved Monday evening an embargo on Russian oil covering more than "two thirds" of their imports from this country, announced the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.

This reduction, which will be implemented by the end of the year, "will remove a huge source of financing from the Russian war machine" and exert "maximum pressure" on Moscow to induce it to put an end to war, he said on Twitter.
