Weather: Temps dropping before warm afternoon

You may want to pull the jacket out of your closet this morning.

Temperatures across Central Florida dropped overnight into the 40s and are expected to stay cool through sunrise, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

That’s chillier than normal. The average low temperature in Orlando in the middle of February is about 53 degrees, according to the Weather Service.

This morning’s low also is about 10 degrees cooler than the low Orlando saw on Thursday.

Forecasters expect temperatures to gradually warm this afternoon to a high near 76 degrees. Skies will likely stay clear and sunny.

The cooler weather isn’t expected to last long, and forecasters say most of Central Florida should be back in the 80s by Saturday.

So you can probably put the jacket away after today.

There’s a chance drivers could see fog overnight and a few rain showers Saturday afternoon. Forecasters are predicting Sunday to be dry, mostly sunny and warm, though.

Early forecasts show Central Florida staying in the 80s through at least the middle of next week. There’s a chance for some rain a slight cool down near the end of the week, but forecasters say those predictions could change.
