A woman was killed and a man was seriously wounded during a car crash early Saturday morning on Lake Shore Drive.

Witnesses saw a small red Honda flee northbound after a vehicle crashed into a pole near the 3900 block of South Lake Shore Drive about 2:15 a.m., according to police.

The driver, a 24-year-old woman, died at the scene and a 27-year-old was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

Police said the crash is being investigated as a possible road rage incident.
