Women less confident than men to find a job quickly

In Quebec, seven out of ten men looking for a job were at least fairly certain they could find one quickly, compared to just over one in two women, according to data from the Indeed job site, shared Thursday.

Across the country, this gender gap is smaller: 57% of men feel confident in their quest compared to 45% of women.

In Quebec, 69% of men were confident, compared to 53% of women.

More generally, Quebec job seekers are more optimistic than the rest of the country's population about their chances of finding a job easily.

Between January and April, 62% of Quebec job seekers were at least somewhat optimistic that they could find a new job within a month. The figure drops to 51% for the national average.

The least confident would be job seekers from Alberta. Only 46% think they can find a job within a month.
