The words of Conservative MP Claire Samson about the work of elected backbenchers in the National Assembly do not reflect reality, reacted the chief government whip, Éric Lefebvre.

Before entering the chamber, Mr. Lefebvre thanked all the deputies from all parties, and underlined their “colossal work”.

“The elected members of the National Assembly work 70-80 hours a week, said the CAQ member. We lived through a pandemic. On the side of our political party, we received over 300,000 emails from citizens who asked questions during the pandemic.

Remarks like those of Claire Samson, who said Thursday that "green plant" deputies, like her, have done little work over the past two years, do nothing to reduce the cynicism of the population with regard to politicians, believes Mr. Lefebvre. "And that's so not the reality, so yes I have to admit that I was disappointed to hear that," he concluded.
