SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 27, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Auria, a leading global provider of automotive flooring, acoustic, thermal, aerodynamic and other fiber-based solutions, has appointed Marc Flegler, director of Auria Europe, as its first Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) and Dr. Pinar Erol as its newly created Global Sustainability Director.

As CSO, Fgleler will lead the company's global environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals and set key performance indicators as part of the long-term measurable strategy, while continuing his role as Head of Auria Europe. .

Erol, who has recently joined Auria, will report to Flegler and will be responsible for leading the company's corporate sustainability reporting (CSR) program, evolving the company's sustainability roadmap and creating a global team to carry out the intended ESG objectives.

Dedicated functions will better position Auria to extend the scope of its environmentally, socially and economically sustainable business practices throughout its value chain to create long-term value for customers, employees, stakeholders and the environment.

Flegler has over 25 years of automotive industry experience in key roles such as global sourcing, supply chain management, mechanical engineering and sales management. He has been with Auria since its inception in 2017 and has served as General Manager of the company's European operations since 2020. His previous role was Senior Vice President of Global Sales. Prior to his tenure at Auria, Flegler was Senior Vice President of Procurement at IAC, overseeing all direct and indirect material procurement, supplier quality and purchasing systems. He began his career at Harman International, where he held various purchasing management positions.

Flegler, a German national, graduated in mechanical engineering from the Higher Technical School in Stuttgart (Germany). He also has a degree in production and logistics from the AKAD University in Lahr (Germany).

Erol brings 20 years of sustainability experience to Auria, including several years in corporate social responsibility consulting, product sustainability, and environmental, health and safety management. Most recently, she was Group Head of Sustainability at nnuks Group Holding GmbH from 2019. Prior to that, she held various positions at international institutions such as IFC, World Bank, EEA, European Commission and European sustainability consulting firms.

A native of Turkey, Pinar completed a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering in Izmir and a master's degree in waste management in Kocaeli, Turkey. As a DAAD fellow she moved to Germany, where she did her second master's degree in industrial flow analysis and her PhD in ECO-optimization of automotive finishing lines.
