RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 26, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- The 6th edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) kicked off yesterday in Riyadh, under the theme "Investing in Humanity: Enabling a New World Order", with groundbreaking discussions , important announcements and thought-provoking workshops.

Officials, high-level executives and other dignitaries from around the world attended the first day of the conference, including the President of Senegal, Macky Sall; the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Shari; the Greek Minister for Development and Investment, HE Adonis Georgiadis; and the Finnish Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, HE Ville Skinnari; among others.

FII Institute CEO Richard Attias opened the conference with a promising message about the importance of sustainability and inclusion. He said: "Our world is facing unprecedented threats, but it is also a unique time of new opportunities. We are on the path to a new world order. FII is proud to contribute to this conversation. The Governor of PIF, H.E. The first day also saw the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) launch the largest carbon credit auction ever held by the Voluntary Carbon Market, totaling one million tonnes of carbon credits. FII6 has so far focused on sustainability, and the auction will play an important role in the PIF's efforts to drive the investment needed to tackle the global impact of climate change and make Saudi Arabia net-zero carbon by 2060.

The delegates also witnessed the signing of important agreements between the Saudi Ministry of Investment and its strategic partners, such as the biotech company Gingko Bioworks, the manufacturing company Taihan, the Latin American investment bank BTG Pactual and an agreement on space tourism with orbit.

More than 6,000 delegates from leading organizations from around the world attended the first day of the conference to hear business and political leaders discuss their ideas on the "New Global Order." The 6th edition of FII will end on October 27, with more key announcements and vital conversations taking place over the next two days.
