Online Time: Mr Hübner, you have grown up in rural Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which is not necessarily known for its leftist subculture. Why do you devote yourself in your first long documentary film Wild Heart to a punk band from small town of Jarmen in Vorpommern?

Charly Hübner: When I was asked if I wanted to make a long piece for cinema, I had just met by chance Jan Gorkow, band's front singer of fine Cream fish fillet. I missed a figure like him on cinema screen. That was intuitive fascination.

Online Time: What fascinated you so much about punk singer Jan "Monchi" Gorkow?

Hübner: I was amazed by his clarity, aunticity and attackability. There is someone who makes a secret of nothing, but is just as he is. One who stands by his faults. At same time, behind Jan Gorkow, re was so much background that it became more and more interesting to pursue it.

Online Time: Gorkow was on road as a football hooligan and was later watched by protection of Constitution, because authority kept his band left extreme until 2015. What is typical of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern?

Hübner: First of all, nothing to do with country. I was interested in ambivalence. Jan comes from a middle-class Protestant parental home, which was a form of opposition to GDR times. The far's contractor, mor dentist, four children. At same time he grew up surrounded by a right Neonaziwelt. In addition, a paralyzed Antifaszene, which almost no longer existed.

Online Time: You are also a Dorfkind from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Did you recognize yourself in rebellious Monchi?

Hübner: Not at all. But what linked me to him was his album title to Stay or go?. I myself was very tired of my surroundings after graduating from high school in Neustrelitz, I had no desire for neo around me and went to Berlin. It was never an option for me to stay in Neustrelitz. That's why it was so exciting for me that Jan clearly said: He's not going away. I wanted to know how this feels to stay.
