The analysis and explanation of the new Startups Law approved last week by Congress, and which comes into force next January, will be one of the main themes of the eighth edition of BIGBAN Investors Congress, the private investment congress in startups that will be held on November 23 and 24 in Valencia. For Agustín Baeza, director of Public Affairs of the Spanish Association of Startups and speaker at the congress, this law "is the beginning of a change for the better in public policies for promote entrepreneurship and innovation in our country". The law, among other issues, simplifies administrative procedures, gives tax incentives to investors and entrepreneurs, and includes measures to attract and retain digital talent. For his part, Alberto Andújar, manager of BIGBAN Inversores Privados, the national association that promotes the congress, celebrates the approval of this law that comes at a time when "administrative flexibility and investment incentives are a determining factor in providing robustness to startups in a recessive context". Thus, it highlights the perfect framework for generating investment synergies that BIGBAN Investors Congress represents, "where every year the main agents of investment in startups meet. We are not a congress for crowds, we are a congress attended by managers and partners , and that means that many of the connections that are forged end up becoming deals." Program The program of the BIGBAN Investors Congress, which has the support of CaixaBank, Wayra, BME, Aktion Lega l, Invest In Valencia and the Chamber of Valencia , is held at the facilities of the strategic consultant Zeus, located in La Marina. It is made up of different master conferences, discussion panels and specialized thematic rooms, where fundamental issues for the sector are addressed. The investor and startup mentor Javier Megías will present the situation and trends of the investment ecosystem, while the "business angel" and Managing Partner of Eoniq Fund Tom Horsey, together with Dr. David Gálvez, professor at the University of Seville, will offer attendees a vision of the macroeconomic situation, the immediate future and the economic uncertainty that exists at the moment. For Horsey, agile startups, efficient in the use of capital and digital will be the winners: "we are experiencing a sweet moment within the ecosystem and governments have to provide all possible facilities for companies to go at the speed of light" .Another topic of great interest that will be reflected on at the BIGBAN Investors Congress will be the need or not to reset the investment ecosystem. Thus, Luis Martín Cabiedes, a leading investor in the technological world, will talk together with Eduardo Díez Hochleitner, co-founder and president of the Samaipata investment fund, about whether new startups are living from their clients, as they should be, or from their investors; and if they are being financed correctly with public money, or if these new companies are financial products. The disinvestment and successes of startups will be another of the issues that will be discussed at the congress with specialists such as Clara Pombo, investor and Corporate Director Clarke Modet, Sonia Fernández, partner at the firm Kibo Ventures, Ramón Blanco, CEO and co-founder of Bewater Funds, and Jesús Gonzalez Nieto-Márquez, Managing Director of BME Growth. Lastly, the well-known private investor René de Jong will discuss the "rules of the game " on the relationship between "business angels" and venture capital funds.
