Three journalists who have discovered abuse allegations against film producer Harvey Weinstein with ir research have been awarded Pulitzer Prize. Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey as well as Ronan Farrow had reported on this last year in New York Times and New Yorker. They would have revealed sex offenders with "explosive, effective journalism, including accusations against one of Hollywood's most influential producers," said Dana Canedy, chairman of Pulitzer Prize administration.

By reporting, those responsible were held accountable for "long-oppressed accusations of coercion, violence and forced silence of victims." The result was a worldwide settlement with sexual abuse of women. More than 70 women had accused Weinstein of having sexually harassed or raped her. Weinstein has given wrongdoing, but rejects accusations of non-consensual sex. The reports laid foundation for MeToo movement, in which victims of sexual assault spoke.

The New York Times and The Washington Post were also awarded for ir coverage of alleged Russian influence in US election campaign and possible connections of Russia to n candidate and present-day US President Donald Trump. In journalistic categories were also prizes for reporting on planned wall on U.S. border with Mexico (Arizona Republic), Opioidkrise in U.S. state of Ohio (Cincinnati Enquirer) and Dylan Roof, which in a church in Charleston nine African-American Shot (GQ), forgiven.

Kendrick Lamar receives award for best Album

In music category, American rapper Kendrick Lamar received Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 released album damn.  The album is a "virtuoso collection of songs, united by its colloquial aunticity and rhythmic dynamics," said Canedy. It offers "haunting snapshots that capture complexity of modern Afro-American life." Lamar is first rapper and first musician outside of classical and jazz to be awarded prize.

The author Andrew Sean Greer received award in category fiction for his novel Mister Less (original English title less). Jack E. Davis was honored for his history book The Gulf, Caroline Fraser for her biography Prairie fires. Frank Bidart gets Pulitzer Prize for his poetry band Half-light, James Forman Jr. for his book locking up our own.

The Pulitzer Prizes will be awarded this year for 102. 14 of 21 price categories are reserved for journalistic work. The remaining prizes will be awarded for works in fields of literature, music and atre. The award winners will be appointed by a jury based at Columbia University in New York. Winners will receive a certificate and a prize of 10,000 dollars.
