Oliver Krischer: Criminal complaint against ex-VW-chef Winter Korn

After US indictment against former Volkswagen chief Martin Winter Korn, Green Bundestag MEP Oliver Krischer filed a criminal complaint against ex-manager. This is reported by Süddeutsche Zeitung. Krischer refore accuses winter grain of having lied to untersuchungsausschuss of federal Parliament's exhaust gas. This concerns still unresolved question of when winter grain knew about exhaust gas manipulation in millions of cars of group.

In January 2017, former VW chairman of Board of Directors was consulted as a witness to exhaust gas scandal in Committee of Inquiry. When asked when he first learned about unacceptable shutdown devices, manager replied: "Certainly not before September 2015." At beginning of September 2015, VW had admitted to US environmental authorities that y had used a prohibited software in diesel cars. It reduced exhaust emissions in laboratory, so that wagons kept limit values on roller dynamometer – but not on road.

According to investigations in USA, however, winter grain could already have known about manipulations in May 2014, but at latest at end of July 2015 it should have been informed in detail. The US judicial authorities have subsequently accused winter grain and issued arrest warrant against him.

"If accusations of US prosecutor's office are true, n Mr. Winter Korn may not have told truth in Bundestag's Committee of inquiry," said Krischer. He is Chairman of Greens in Committee of Inquiry. He submitted advertisement to Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday, reports Süddeutsche Zeitung. A false statement would be a criminal offence that could be punished by a penalty of fines or imprisonment.

Investigation into market manipulation may have ended 2018

In Germany, Public prosecutor's Office determines Braunschweig for possible market manipulation against winter grain as well as new VW group CEO Herbert dies and supervisory board chairman Hans Dieter Pötsch. The question is wher Volkswagen shareholders were informed too late about diesel scandal. That would be a violation of stock law. The three deny accusation.

As chief prosecutor Klaus said to mirror, it is possible to conclude investigation in process of market manipulation "later this year". Against winter grain, public Prosecutor's Office also investigates fraud. Also in investigation of software manipulations, conclusion is possible by end of year, but not very likely, was cited.

In September 2015, Volkswagen had admitted that it had installed illegal software in around eleven million diesel cars of different brands in group worldwide. Shortly reafter, winter grain receded as VW boss. Due to late profit warning, VW shareholders in Germany demand damages of around ten billion euros, procedures run before civil courts in Braunschweig and Stuttgart. In turn, group checks wher it reclaims winter grain for financial damages.
