SICTED, an endorsement for tourists who choose Spain The Integral Tourism Quality System, SICTED is the program for comprehensive management and permanent quality in tourist destinations. SICTED, created by the Secretary of State for Tourism (SETUR) and which has the support of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) aims to improve the quality of the tourism sector. This system was created more than 20 years ago with the intention of turning Spain into a destination marked by good management of the sector and distinguished by the quality of tourism. This is how the ideal comprehensive strategy arose for the country to differentiate itself from its main competitors in the Mediterranean. When it took off, it initially focused on nine municipalities, where this experience was put into practice as a pilot project: Barcelona, Calviá, Lanzarote, Menorca , Santiago de Compostela, Zaragoza, Segovia, Valle de Benasque and Montaña de Navarra were the first cities to have the new system. Since then, the number of enclaves has not ceased to increase, while SICTED has grown and established itself. This year, nearly 7,000 tourist services recognized with SICTED have been reached. Specifically, it is the hotels and tourist apartments that bring together the greatest number of these recognitions, exceeding 1,300. Followed by restaurants and tourist catering companies, rural accommodation, museums and centers of tourist interest that can be visited, and shops. The list also includes tourist information offices, bars and cafeterias, tourist guides, active tourism, beaches, etc.By autonomous communities, the Valencian Community is the one that adds the greatest number of these distinctions, with a total of 1,399. Andalusia ranks second in this classification with 1,190 and Galicia, third with another 915 recognitions. The Balearic Islands, Euskadi and the Canary Islands follow their path. Other communities, on the other hand, have not yet made their debut in this ranking. This is the case of Cantabria, Navarra and the autonomous city of Melilla.
