Former SAS CMO Joins Executive Team of AI Process Automation Leader

Guard brings more than 35 years of experience in marketing, product strategy and technology leadership to Appian's executive team. He will oversee the company's global marketing efforts, focusing on delivering Appian's comprehensive end-to-end process automation vision and the power of the Appian platform to organizations around the world.
Guard's background includes 20 years at SAS, leading data and analytics, building and leading product and marketing teams, and ultimately serving as Chief Marketing Officer for five years. There, he led the marketing of SAS' AI platform, solutions and offerings, including Machine Learning and Deep Learning integrated into the SAS portfolio. Most recently, he was CMO and Chief Product Officer at digital payments startup Spreedly.
