Moving towards net zero
Maintaining its commitment to carbon reduction, Arçelik publishes its progress towards reaching the goal of net zero emissions by 2050 in line with the SBTi Net-Zero standard. Throughout 2022, Arçelik has avoided the emission of 7,525 tons of CO with a total saving of 94,324 GJ of energy in Energy Efficiency projects. In its efforts towards decarbonization, Arçelik has already achieved 65% green electricity use in global manufacturing operations and reached a total of 10.20 MW of renewable energy installed capacity by the end of 2022. Circular economy efforts: conscious respect for the planet
Arçelik's significant contribution to the circular economy through its recycling efforts has been the result of investment and continued effort in recent years. Arçelik's recycling plants have successfully recycled 1.65 million units of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) since 2014 and the recyclability rate of Arçelik's products currently stands between 84% and 99%. These units consist of old, energy-intensive products that have been recycled and then replaced with new, energy-efficient ones. By doing so, the company has saved 434 GWh of energy between 2014 and 2022. This is equivalent to the daily electricity consumption of some 54 million Turkish households. Likewise, this amount is also equal to the annual energy production of 69 wind turbines with a capacity of 2.5 MW each. By recycling waste products, Arçelik has avoided some 214,000 tons of CO emissions and, in terms of water, the company has saved about 8.3 million tons of water by replacing old technology products with new ones. This amount is equivalent to the daily water consumption of almost 10.2 million Turkish households.

Arçelik's innovation achievements are recognized around the world, in particular by the World Economic Forum, which awarded the company's manufacturing facility in Ulmi, Romania, Beacon of Sustainability status for its on-site sustainability measures. The En Ulmi washing machine plant is the first and only production unit in Romania to be LEED Platinum certified and uses 100% green electricity. In addition, a "digital twin" model of the plant automatically adjusts lighting and optimizes heating and cooling systems.
