Mujeres en Igualdad de Sevilla awards the II XXI Century Women Awards to recognize people and institutions in five categories related to the promotion of equality

SEVILLE, 17 Mar.

Bristol Myers Squibb has been recognized as an Exemplary Company in Equality by Women in Equality of Seville within the "II Premios Mujer Siglo XXI" with which this organization recognizes different people and institutions in five categories.

Specifically, BMS has been awarded for the initiatives implemented within its Equality Plan and for those coordinated by the B-NOW group (Bristol Myers Squibb Women's Network), whose objective is to boost business performance in Bristol Myers Squibb by adopting a perspective of gender diversity.

Through regular events and activities, such as the "Unconscious Biases" and "Female Leadership" workshops, B-NOW works to ensure that women are recruited, retained, advanced and developed globally at Bristol Myers Squibb, at the same time that the company creates a diverse and inclusive work environment and where leaders can achieve positions of responsibility while maintaining their personal lives.

Mujeres en Igualdad aims to become a benchmark in the field of real equal opportunities between men and women. In addition to the various programs carried out each year, the association manages three shelters for battered women and their sons and daughters in two Spanish cities and a Socio-Labor Guidance Center for women in Madrid (COSMI).

The most active protagonists are its more than 40,000 associates, tireless fighters and tremendously imaginative and innovative. In order to end gender violence, it is essential that victims know the rights that protect them and the resources they can access. They are currently part of the State Observatory on Violence Against Women.

For the Mujeres en Igualdad association, women entrepreneurs in our society are fundamental. If we want to continue growing as a society, we need brave and risky women who undertake new business adventures, big or small, but all of them valuable. "We want society to decide its future through the prism of equality," says Victoria Cañal, President of Women for Equality in Seville.

The primary objective of the Bristol Myers Squibb Equality Plan is full equality of treatment and opportunities for women and men. This means that, with equal aptitudes, knowledge and qualifications, men and women must carry out their tasks without their sex, age, race and/or religion representing an obstacle and under the same conditions in terms of remuneration, training and promotion within of the company

The plan has objectives established in different areas: access to employment, promotion, training and remuneration of personnel, reconciliation of personal and professional life, occupational health, prevention of harassment and gender violence and organizational culture.

BMS is currently committed to generating quality, diverse and inclusive jobs. 61% of its 400 employees are women and the company's governing body in Spain is more than equal. Proof of this is that the company has the 'Equality in the Company' distinction granted by the Ministry of Equality, a certificate that recognizes excellence in the application and development of equality measures between women and men and in the development of plans and equality policies in the company to those companies that achieve results in the implementation of said measures.

"BMS is a company committed to the principles of integrity and equal treatment and opportunities, and we feel very grateful for this recognition by Women in Equality Seville as an Exemplary Company in Equality", comments Ana Fdez Rañada, Director of Human Resources for BMS Spain and Portugal.
