RELEASE: Cabot Highlands Unveils Expansion Plans & Inside Look At New Tom Doak Course

INVERNESS, SCOTLAND, Aug. 1, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cabot Collection, developer and operator of master-planned golf resort communities, has recently released development updates at the Cabot Highlands in Scotland, including the routing plan for its new course Tom Doak Golf Course which will open for preliminary play in 2024. Following Cabot's acquisition of the iconic Castle Stuart Golf Links and surrounding property in summer 2022, plans have been put into motion for exciting new real estate opportunities, a Expanded 11,000 square foot clubhouse with new dining areas and new programming, all complemented by thoughtful touches and the exemplary service for which the Cabot brand has become known.

The resort is located in the picturesque city of Inverness and visitors today delight in playing the award-winning Castle Stuart course, part of the rich fabric of golf in the legendary destination. The Top 100 course, designed by the late Mark Parsinen and Gil Hanse, now includes signature Cabot sofas on the 18th green and cookies on the first tee. As the gateway to golf in the Scottish Highlands and the perfect base for exploring the region, guests can stay in lovely on-site accommodation, with a choice of Golf Lodge or Farmhouse. Each lodge offers accommodation for up to eight people and boasts magnificent views of the countryside or the waters of the Moray Firth. Package pricing starts at £405 per person per night (or approximately $516 per person per night).

The new Tom Doak course will usher in an impressive 18 holes of golf, all designed to recall the feel of a course players could experience 200 years ago. Designed around the 400-year-old castle, the course will incorporate natural contours, meandering through the slopes and wide open grounds with several holes along the water. The grand opening is scheduled for 2025.

"As architects, our greatest joy is trying to find the best way to have fun on rough terrain, but the ultimate success would be to leave the golfer with the same kind of puzzle," Doak said.

Construction on the clubhouse is expected to begin in the fall of 2023, while real estate sales will begin in early 2024. Each is expected to be completed in the spring of 2025. The real estate will feature cottages with touches modern and exclusive inspired by the attractive landscape of the Scottish countryside. Up to 25 new accommodations are expected to be built as part of this exciting development. When the owners are not in residence, their homes will be available as luxury accommodation for visiting guests. The new clubhouse will feature a cigar and whiskey bar, a clubhouse bar with grill, and a mid-floor chophouse restaurant. Cabot Highlands will be complete with new shops, changing rooms and communal gathering points.

"In the historic home of golf, we sought out Tom to create something special, and perhaps unconventional by modern standards. His vision of resurrecting an old true-links style course will serve as a great complement to the beloved Castle Stuart Links Golf ". said Ben Cowan-Dewar, Cabot's CEO and co-founder. "We look forward to creating an inspiring destination anchored in incredible golf that will stand the test of time for generations to come."

Cabot Highlands is just five minutes from Inverness Airport and a short drive from some of the region's most famous courses including Royal Dornoch, Nairn, Brora and Skibo Castle. The setting stretches along the shores of the Moray Firth with panoramic views and popular landmarks including Kessock Bridge and Chanonry Lighthouse. Castle Stuart's rugged natural landscape can be described as throwing back golf as it once was. The course features holes framed by the water's edge on one side and cliffs on the other, with crinkled fairway contours and infinity-edge greens that appear to be perched on cliffs directly above the sea.

Beyond golf, the destination offers incredible natural beauty and numerous outdoor activities including walking, cycling, fishing, falconry, horse riding, boating on the famous Loch Ness and much more. Inverness city center is 10 minutes away and offers the chance to experience Scotland's vibrant culture through Victorian-era markets, cathedrals, museums and restaurants. The Inverness area is also home to some of Scotland's best whiskey distilleries, many of which offer guided tours and tastings throughout the year.

"Since we opened our 2023 golf season at the Cabot Highlands, our community and visitors have greeted us with incredible enthusiasm," said General Manager Stuart McColm. "Ben and the team at Cabot are the perfect stewards of our historic property, and working alongside a visionary like Tom Doak sets the stage for an extraordinary golf and resort experience that would make our beloved founder, Mark Parsinen, proud."
