RELEASE: CAMPUS CONFESQ is born, a training platform for health professionals

(Information sent by the signatory company)

Campus CONFESQ arose as a result of the lack of training of medical specialists in fibromyalgia (FM), chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME), multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) and electrohypersensitivity (EHS). Campus CONFESQ aims to create a training benchmark for socio-health professionals interested in these pathologies

"The diseases that CONFESQ represents are chronic, very disabling, without biomarkers and with no known cure -says its president, María López- to which must be added a great lack of knowledge on the part of doctors and other social and health professionals. This causes in the first place a great delay in the diagnosis, which already influences a poor prognosis in the evolution of the diseases.On the other, the possibility of treatment is denied, even if it is palliative and symptomatic, but adequate, which supposes a neglect of some patients that they can (and should) receive medical and social help".

The CONFESQ Campus, which offers diagnostic and treatment tools, includes courses such as "Advances in Myalgic Encephalomyelitis in the postcovid era", directed by Dr. Jose Vigaray from Immunomet, and "Environmental Medicine. SQM and EHS", directed by Dr. Pilar Muñoz Calero, president of the Alborada Foundation. The courses offered on the Campus are useful tools for healthcare and social healthcare professionals to train and increase their knowledge of these pathologies.

"At COCEMFE we have supported this initiative from the outset because we are aware that knowledge is the basis for an adequate diagnosis, good treatment and, ultimately, that people with disabilities can develop our lives, can actively participate in society and we have guaranteed our full inclusion in education, employment and in all areas of life", explains Eva Pérez Bech, vice president of COCEMFE.

Carina Escobar, representing the Platform of Patient Organizations, stresses that health education for patients and health professionals "is, ultimately, the endorsement of efficient and humanistic care for chronicity." The CONFESQ Campus initiative seeks precisely to offer this training to health professionals to improve the care and quality of life of patients with these pathologies.

The president of the Spanish Society of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Dr. Antonio Collado, closed the event, highlighting the importance of quality information on the Internet, and reiterating SEFIFAC's commitment to promoting research and training in the field of health.

THE CAMPUS

Mª José Félix, president of the DOLFA association (of children, adolescents and young people suffering from these diseases), designer and creator of this project, presented its different sections and the resources that are already available to the public today: training plans, conferences, research and library are the most outstanding sections of this website.

The training plans are made up of several courses.

• "Fibromyalgia", coordinated by Ana Panadero from the AFIBROM association and treasurer of CONFESQ;

• "Environmental Medicine, SQM and EHS", directed by Dr. Pilar Muñoz-Calero, president of Fundación Alborada;

• and "Advances in Myalgic Encephalomyelitis in the postcovid era", directed by Dr. José Vigaray, director of INMUNOMET.
