RELEASE: EnerOcean's 11mw floating wind demonstrator scores top score from Renmarinas Demos

The PRIMAVERA demonstrator, scheduled to start generating energy in the Port at the end of 2025, has achieved a boost of 8 million euros in the Renmarinas Demos call. It will be the first commercial-sized floating wind platform to produce renewable energy in a commercial port. The companies Plenitude (Eni), Ghenova and ISATI are actively participating in the project, contributing their valuable experience in the management and development of large offshore projects.

Malaga, August 8, 2023.- EnerOcean S.L., the Malaga-based marine energy engineering company, is the developer of the W2Power floating wind platform, the first double-turbine platform to be successfully tested in the open sea. The Malaga-based company continues to moving forward with the development of its Primavera project, an 11 MW demonstrator installed in the Port of Granadilla in Tenerife, Canary Islands, after the Tenerife Port Authority (APT) preliminarily approved the project and reserved the concession area in its waters port. The environmental campaign to support the presentation of the Environmental Impact Assessment scheduled for the summer of 2023 is being completed. The company's proposal has obtained the highest score in the call for Renmarinas Demos in the provisional resolution of the Institute for Diversification and Ahorro de la Energía de España (IDAE), thus receiving provisional confirmation of the 8 million euros requested. The PRIMAVERA demonstrator, scheduled to start generating energy in the Port at the end of 2025, will be the first commercial-size floating wind platform in the world that will generate renewable energy in a commercial port, while providing a full life cycle training and innovation center. The platform will carry a pair of 5.5 MW wind turbines that will supply more than 50 GWh per year of green electricity to the port and the local community, as well as to the island's grid, enough to supply more than 16,000 homes in a clean and affordable way. EnerOcean has already liaised with local manufacturers and service providers to ensure maximum contribution to the local economy and determine the best solutions for coexistence. EnerOcean partners Plenitude (Eni), Ghenova and ISATI are actively involved in the project by contributing its valuable experience in the management of large offshore projects, the design of floating platforms and towers and the integration of wind turbines. With a pair of wind turbines on a floating platform designed to always face the prevailing wind, the innovative W2Power solution offers one of the most favorable power-to-weight ratios and consequently the lowest levelized cost of energy of all floating wind power technologies. This novel solution integrates patented features and key proprietary technological elements. Floating solutions are seen as an effective way to extend the success of offshore wind power to most countries in the world. Pedro Mayorga, CEO of EnerOcean, commented: "The demonstrator Primavera represents a breakthrough for us. With this substantial scaling of our end-to-end engineered solution, EnerOcean will reach the same maturity as the four market leaders in floating wind power, as well as be on track to demonstrate our potential as a cost leader. We are very We are satisfied with the result of the Renmarinas Demos call and we thank IDAE for the welcome financial boost." Alexander Fairtlough, EnerOcean Communications Director, commented: "W2Power now has a full-size demonstrator to contribute to progress. With the strong support of the local partners and their industrial shareholders, and now IDAE and Renmarinas Demos funding, we are confident that this will be another successful chapter in the W2Power story." About EnerOcean EnerOcean, a marine energy engineering company, was founded in 2007. Headquartered in Malaga and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, it has engineering teams in both locations and a wide international network of collaborators. The company leads the development of the W2Power floating wind solution, with extensive Intellectual Property in force in the markets of interest. Combining the proven technology of the semi-submersible platforms, with two conventional wind turbines, and adding proprietary design elements such as leaning towers, innovative moorings and controls, EnerOcean and its partners will provide deepwater generated wind power at greatly reduced costs. EnerOcean has already announced its first wind farms in the Canary Islands through its subsidiary Canarrays S.L. Issuer: EnerOcean
